Growing up on the Isle of Wight I spent a lot of time drawing waves. This induced an awareness of repetition within movement, time and sound; these themes continue to permeate throughout my work.
Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2002 I have been focusing on flame-work, a glass forming technique dating back to the 17th century. I like the simplicity and looseness of the process. My work explores the innate nature of glass in its many different states, through sculpture, drawings and installations. Some elements are highly crafted, others gestural and spontaneous; pieces therefore become precious for very different reasons.
I currently live and work in London.
